Top Autism Blogs - Biomedical and RecoveryDan Olmsted, Kim Stagliano, David Kirby and Harold Doherty’s blogs
Blogging is an effective tool for disseminating information; four blogs dedicated to autism recovery and biomedical treatments guide parents through this complex world.
Blogging is a popular way for businesses, organizations, and individuals to share their message. The Internet is filled with tens of thousands of autism blogs and navigating through them may prove tedious to even the most dedicated parent. However, the information shared through the blogging process can be, at times, invaluable. Since autism is a true spectrum of disorders, autism blogs follow a similar spectrum. Biomedical treatments and interventions designed at helping individuals recover from autism are increasingly in popularity and so are several biomedical and recovery-themed autism blogs. Age of AutismThe tagline for the Age of Autism blog is “Daily Web Newspaper of the Autism Epidemic.” The Editor of the site is Dan Olmsted; Kim Stagliano serves as Managing Editor, and Mark Blaxill is the Editor-at-Large. Age of Autism’s sponsors include Talk About Curing Autism (TACA), the Autism Research Institute, the National Autism Association, Generation Rescue (Jenny McCarthy’s organization), and Safe Minds. The Huffington Post – David KirbyDavid Kirby, author of Evidence of Harm, Mercury in Vaccines and the Autism Epidemic, is one of the most well known advocates of the vaccine/autism connection. Kirby posts regularly on his blog at The Huffington Post. Kirby is a longtime journalist whose works have appeared in many magazines including Glamour, Redbook, and Marie Claire. Kirby has written about autism extensively and has been a featured speaker at several biomedical autism conferences. Facing Autism in New BrunswickHarold Doherty’s inspiration for his blog, Facing Autism in New Brunswick, is his son, Conor. Doherty’s blog includes several pledges to his son, including a pledge to fight for an autism cure. Facing Autism in New Brunswick takes a hard look at the level of care that individuals on the autism spectrum receive in New Brunswick and in Canada, but it also goes beyond that. The latest in autism news, information about the autism/vaccine debate, and autism research projects are presented to readers. Hating AutismThe Hating Autism blog is the polar opposite of most neurodiversity blogs. The blog was launched in 2006 and instead of embracing autism, the author finds fault in those that support the neurodiversity point of view. Readers of the blog will also find information on curing autism, posts that debunk the anti-cure sentiments, and much more. These four blogs are just a small sampling of the hundreds of blogs dedicated to autism recovery and biomedical interventions. Parents that are researching biomedical treatments and autism recovery information will find a wealth of information covered in these blogs. As with all medical treatments, it is important to consult your child’s physician prior to starting any biomedical autism treatments.
